8th National Conference Call for Papers OR: Helping Gear Up for the ASEAN Integration
Date: November 7, 2014
Venue: Eastwood Richmonde Hotel, Eastwood, Quezon City

INVITATION

The ASEAN initiative calls for full economic integration by 2015. This involves the removal of tariff and non-tariff barriers for liberalization of trade, financial and labor markets. With its regulatory hurdles, small investor base and low awareness for this initiative, the Philippines faces a challenge.

Operations Research (OR), with its methodologies, has the tools that can help the Philippines face this challenge. The 2014 National Conference aims to provide a forum where:

• Industry leaders can share insights on the details of this integration and how it poses both a threat and an opportunity for the Philippines;
• Practitioners can present experiences on the impact of such an integration and the potential role of OR to minimize losses and maximize gains from the initiative;
• Academicians can present researches on advances in the OR theories and methodologies relevant to economic integration and related issues;
• Participants can gain insights from experts about how they will be affected and how they can use OR in this new economic order; and
• Everyone will be given the opportunity to exchange ideas and expertise on current OR tools, methodologies  and trends.
