Location MapHow will you benefit?Learn how to effectively use R in running your own statistical analysis for accurate and impactful
DATA DRIVEN DECISION MAKING.Learn different modeling techniques using R and how it can address
REAL WORLD BUSINESS CASES.Who should attend?Business analysts, statisticians, data scientists, operations research analysts, educators, marketing practitioners, managers, and other users who need to analyze data or run their own analysis.
What you will learn?• Basic R functions like importing and exporting data
• Using R functions for performing statistical analysis
• Modeling techniques using real world business applications as applied in various industries
What is R?"R" is a programming language and software environment for statistical computing, data visualization, and predictive modeling.
It has become the single most important tool for computational statistics, and has become an essential tool for analytics driven companies such as Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Worldwide, people use R to solve challenging problems in various fields such as risk management and quantitative marketing.
Course OutlineDay 1: R for Statistical Analysis
Concepts and Case Presentations
MorningThe objective of the morning session would be to learn the basic concepts in computer programming via R.
• Introduction to R expressions, variables, and functions
• Data types and objects
• Reading and writing data
• File operations and file formats
AfternoonThe objective of the afternoon session is to be able to use R in performing various statistical analyses. A case study that will apply all the concepts discussed for the day will be given to the participants after the lecture.
• Data Pre-processing
- Exploratory data analysis: Histograms, scatterplots
- Descriptive statistics
Case 1: Linear regression for sales forecasting
Day 2: Advanced Data Modeling Lecture and hands-on workshopThe objectives of the second day's session would be to build statistical
models and use them to analyze data. Case method approach shall be used and emphasis will be on using R to fit models and interpretation of the R output, rather than the theoretical background behind the models
Case 2: Basic propensity modeling using logistic regressionCase 3: Customer Segmentation using K-means ClusteringCase 4: Customer Classification using Decision TreesCase 5: Customer Attrition Modeling using Survival AnalysisBonus Topic: Text analytics / sentiment analysisSeminar InformationSeminar Timing : June 19 – 20, 2015
